WHAT IS A 1031 EXCHANGE?
Section 1031 of the Internal Revenue Code allows an investor to defer capital gains taxes on the sale of investment property held for productive use in a trade or business or for investment when exchanged, solely, for a like kind property to be held either for productive use in a trade or business or for investment.
